Why Helping You Cook Is So Personal to Me.

Helping you eat real food in a fake food world has been my secret mission for over a decade.

But for years, I held back. I didn’t go all in. I kept pieces of my own healthy cooking system (the things that really made the difference) tucked away.

So I made a choice. I quit my marketing job in the summer of 2024, doubled down on this mission, and finally brought everything together in one place.

Eating 'Pretty Healthy' might not be enough

Was I really glowing?

What you don’t see: the head-to-toe eczema, the Dunkin’ iced coffee habit, and the dabbling in one supplement after another. Proof that eating ‘pretty healthy’ wasn’t enough. I wasn’t listening to the signs my body was trying to give me.

Let me catch you up:


For years, I thought I was doing everything right. I ate tons of produce, cooked with whole foods, and even wrote the very first version of Healthy Cooking 101 back in 2013.

I was a health coach. I knew food mattered.

But I wasn’t fully seeing the big picture.

I leaned a little too hard on the 80/20 Rule. There was a little too much alcohol, a few too many fried foods, weekend sugary indulgences, and stress basically became my breakfast.

The Unexpected Twist


Then came cancer. Breast cancer. Aggressive and at Stage 3.

It was the ultimate wake-up call & the moment I realized all those teeny, tiny vices were adding up and the constant “busy life” without truly slowing down to fuel myself right had caught up with me.

I was living on autopilot, convincing myself “pretty healthy” was good enough.

I kept taking random supplements, skipping doctor visits, and hoping for the best because I felt and looked fine.

The Turning Point


Somewhere between chemo treatments at Mayo Clinic, the side effects, and quiet moments of self-love, I decided to take my FULL healthy habits back,
starting in my kitchen, knowing it was my only way to survive the brutal side effects.

I began tracking, learning, testing and creating real food systems that worked. Not diets, not rules, not more stress - just simple, whole foods and a way of cooking and eating that actually fit MY life.

This became my anchor, my healing path, and my way of feeling like myself again.

And here’s what I realized: Healthy cooking wasn’t just something I wrote a book about. It was the very thing that helped me heal, energize, and reclaim my life.

I saw how lost the basic life skill of cooking had become in our fast-paced world, and I knew I had to bring it back.

What really Saved My Health...

The Aha Moment

The less vitamins and powdered supplements I took, the better my bloodwork came back. The more I listened to what my body was telling me (chemo was a crash course in digestion 101) the more I learned to eat the foods my body needed.

My phone was always open while I cooked, and always full of fingerprints from searching recipes, nutrition facts, and even fiber types (depending on the day, I need to slow the train… or speed it up?). Sorry, maybe that's TMI...

I wasn’t looking for a pill, potion or powder anymore, or a product, diet or trend to be my quick fix easy button.

And ya know, I would cringe when my doctors would suggest a different pill for each different side effect.

Instead I was looking for real foods that could do the job.

I started doing the opposite of what the doctors told me. When my numbers were low in one area, I turned to foods to bring them up.

If they were high, I experimented until they balanced out.

And when my oncologist saw how strong my results were after months of the hard stuff, she asked: “What are you doing differently?”

My answer: I stopped chasing pills and started focusing on the foods my body craved and truly needed.

NOTE: Without the constant blood tests, tracking and seeing my doctors regularly, none of this would be possible. I am NOT advocating to go without professional help, I'm advocating for you to eat food first for those desired results. Get tested, track, test again and continuousely improve your food choices.

The Even BIGGER A-HA

After chemo, when I told other women how I handled my cancer treatment induced side effects so successfully with food choices, and fiber especially, I realized just how many of us do not know these basic things.

We rely on products and labels to tell us what to expect or how to feel.

But what about the foods that don’t come with labels: the ones we’re supposed to eat the most?

Since we don’t know how to swap real food in, we just take more pills or try random products hoping for the results we're after.

How did this become the way?

Knowledge really is Power.

How much time will this take each week?

Each video is under 10 minutes. Workshops are under 30 mins.
